Forgive me for posting this today but I couldn’t let it pass (I’ll be mopping the floor and pulling out ‘talahib’ in front of the house as my acts of penance after writing this) -- I was surfing Youtube last night and saw the induction videos of Metallica to the RnR Hall of Fame last April 5. It wasn’t so much that Jason Newsted joined his former band mates at the awards that made me all giddy, but this -
Some of the greatest guitarists together on stage: Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page , Yardbirds’s Jeff Beck, Aerosmith’s Joe Perry , The Rolling Stones’s Ron Wood, and Metallica’s Kirk Hammet (Where’s Eric Clapton?
). Joining them are James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Robert Trujillo, and their ex, Jason, and Red Hot Chili Peppers’s Flea (Thanks to evaldofilho1982 for the video). There is another video of Jeff and Jimmy playing together, as the former had also received the award that night; just look it up on YT .
Also, see the 2004 RnRHOF tribute to George Harrison; Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison (looks like his dad) perform “While my Guitar gently Weeps” with an amazing guitar solo by Prince (video courtesy of fyyyf).
