CYG felt the urge to cook a big pot of soup today because she didn’t want to cook for the next two or three days. So here is my lunch and dinner ’til Friday – minestrone cooked on a clay oven called “dalican” (from Ilocos of course courtesy of Moosh moosh). The heat comes directly from burning charcoal.
We’ve had that “dalican” for the past two to three years now; ever since the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) became erratic. We use it for food you need to cook slowly and leave simmering in the pot for most part of the day (just like how you’d use a crockpot). Saves gas. Ok, so charcoal isn’t the most environment-friendly thing to use but we’re still waiting for solar panels to become accessible.
